  1. Be involved in politics; don't let politics be involved in you.

Now the disciples had forgotten to take bread, and they did not have more than one loaf with them in the boat. Then He charged them, saying, "Take heed, beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the leaven of Herod." - Mark 8:14-15 NKJV

  1. Don’t vote for brambles.

7 Now when they told Jotham, he went and stood on the top of Mount Gerizim, and lifted his voice and called out. Thus he said to them, "Listen to me, O men of Shechem, that God may listen to you. 8 "Once the trees went forth to anoint a king over them, and they said to the olive tree, 'Reign over us!' 9 "But the olive tree said to them, 'Shall I leave my fatness with which God and men are honored, and go to wave over the trees?' 10 "Then the trees said to the fig tree, 'You come, reign over us!' 11 "But the fig tree said to them, 'Shall I leave my sweetness and my good fruit, and go to wave over the trees?' 12 "Then the trees said to the vine, 'You come, reign over us!' 13 "But the vine said to them, 'Shall I leave my new wine, which cheers God and men, and go to wave over the trees?' 14 "Finally all the trees said to the bramble, 'You come, reign over us!' 15 "The bramble said to the trees, 'If in truth you are anointing me as king over you, come and take refuge in my shade; but if not, may fire come out from the bramble and consume the cedars of Lebanon.' - Judges 9:7-15 NASU

  1. Vote out poor stewards.

16 Now He was also saying to the disciples, "There was a rich man who had a manager, and this manager was reported to him as squandering his possessions.  2 "And he called him and said to him, 'What is this I hear about you? Give an accounting of your management, for you can no longer be manager.'  3 "The manager said to himself, 'What shall I do, since my master is taking the management away from me? I am not strong enough to dig; I am ashamed to beg.  4 'I know what I shall do, so that when I am removed from the management people will welcome me into their homes.'  5 "And he summoned each one of his master's debtors, and he began saying to the first, 'How much do you owe my master?'  6 "And he said, 'A hundred measures of oil.' And he said to him, 'Take your bill, and sit down quickly and write fifty.'  7 "Then he said to another, 'And how much do you owe?' And he said, 'A hundred measures of wheat.' He said to him, 'Take your bill, and write eighty.'  8 "And his master praised the unrighteous manager because he had acted shrewdly; for the sons of this age are more shrewd in relation to their own kind than the sons of light. - Luke 16:1-8 NASU

  1. Vote for those who fear God; their ideas can be corrected.

17 Moses' father-in-law said to him, "The thing that you are doing is not good. 18 "You will surely wear out, both yourself and these people who are with you, for the task is too heavy for you; you cannot do it alone. 19 "Now listen to me: I will give you counsel, and God be with you. You be the people's representative before God, and you bring the disputes to God, 20 then teach them the statutes and the laws, and make known to them the way in which they are to walk and the work they are to do. 21 "Furthermore, you shall select out of all the people able men who fear God, men of truth, those who hate dishonest gain; and you shall place these over them as leaders of thousands, of hundreds, of fifties and of tens. 22 "Let them judge the people at all times; and let it be that every major dispute they will bring to you, but every minor dispute they themselves will judge. So it will be easier for you, and they will bear the burden with you. - Exodus 18:17-22 NASU

  1. Vote for those who know laws are for the lawless not the lawful.

But we know that the Law is good, if one uses it lawfully, 9 realizing the fact that law is not made for a righteous person, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers - 1 Timothy 1:8-9 NASU

  1. Vote for those who come to serve and not be served.

But Jesus called them to Himself and said, "You know that the rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority over them. 26 "It is not this way among you, but whoever wishes to become great among you shall be your servant, 27 and whoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave; 28 just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." - Matthew 20:25-28 NASU

  1. Don’t vote based on outer appearance. Pray and be led.

When they entered, he looked at Eliab and thought, "Surely the Lord's anointed is before Him." But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not look at his appearance or at the height of his stature, because I have rejected him; for God sees not as man sees, for man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart." - 1 Samuel 16:6-7 NASU

  1. Vote for those who love their neighbors.

Then one of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, and saying, "Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?" Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' This is the first and great commandment.  And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.'  On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets." - Matthew 22:35-40 NKJV

  1. Even in a democracy or a constitutional republic God exalts and humbles.

Daniel answered and said: "Blessed be the name of God forever and ever, For wisdom and might are His. And He changes the times and the seasons; He removes kings and raises up kings; He gives wisdom to the wise And knowledge to those who have understanding. He reveals deep and secret things; He knows what is in the darkness, And light dwells with Him.  "I thank You and praise You, O God of my fathers; You have given me wisdom and might, And have now made known to me what we asked of You, For You have made known to us the king's demand." - Daniel 2:20-23 NKJV

  1. Do not place your trust in horses or in chariots,

7 Some boast in chariots and some in horses, But we will boast in the name of the Lord, our God. - Psalms 20:7 NASU

  1. Unless God builds the house.

27 Unless the Lord builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the Lord guards the city, The watchman keeps awake in vain. - Psalms 127:1 NASU

  1. After God’s own heart or after the people’s own heart

"But now your kingdom shall not endure. The Lord has sought out for Himself a man after His own heart, and the Lord has appointed him as ruler over His people, because you have not kept what the Lord commanded you." - 1 Samuel 13:14 NASU

  1. God turns the heart of the king.

21 The king's heart is like channels of water in the hand of the Lord; He turns it wherever He wishes.  2 Every man's way is right in his own eyes, But the Lord weighs the hearts. - Proverbs 21:1-2 NASU

  1. Give honor and custom when due. Pray for government.

13 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist are established by God. 2 Therefore whoever resists authority has opposed the ordinance of God; and they who have opposed will receive condemnation upon themselves. 3 For rulers are not a cause of fear for good behavior, but for evil. Do you want to have no fear of authority? Do what is good and you will have praise from the same; 4 for it is a minister of God to you for good. But if you do what is evil, be afraid; for it does not bear the sword for nothing; for it is a minister of God, an avenger who brings wrath on the one who practices evil. 5 Therefore it is necessary to be in subjection, not only because of wrath, but also for conscience' sake. 6 For because of this you also pay taxes, for rulers are servants of God, devoting themselves to this very thing. 7 Render to all what is due them: tax to whom tax is due; custom to whom custom; fear to whom fear; honor to whom honor. - Romans 13:1-7 NASU

  1. Keep yourself pure and do not compromise.

Then the word of the Lord came to me saying, 13 "Son of man, if a country sins against Me by committing unfaithfulness, and I stretch out My hand against it, destroy its supply of bread, send famine against it and cut off from it both man and beast, 14 even though these three men, Noah, Daniel and Job were in its midst, by their own righteousness they could only deliver themselves," declares the Lord God. - Ezekiel 14:12-14 NASU

Scripture

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of His might. Put on the full armor of God, so that you will be able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore, take up the full armor of God, so that you will be able to resist in the evil day, and having done everything, to stand firm. - Ephesians 6:10-13 NASU

Scripture

"Many nations will join themselves to the Lord in that day and will become My people. Then I will dwell in your midst, and you will know that the Lord of hosts has sent Me to you. - Zechariah 2:11 NASU

Scripture

"But when the Son of Man comes in His glory, and all the angels with Him, then He will sit on His glorious throne.  "All the nations will be gathered before Him; and He will separate them from one another, as the shepherd separates the sheep from the goats;  and He will put the sheep on His right, and the goats on the left. - Matthew 25:31-33  NASU
